The Number One Rule Of Fight Club

It feels like there's been a theme lately in my own life, the lives of my friends and my clients.... and then someone shared a quote with me the other day that was so damn good, I had to jot it down to share with ya'll here.

Basically it went something like this:

We're all in our own personal fight club and we don't realize it because of the number one rule of fight club...

We don't talk about fight club.

This really hit home for me and I noticed it all over, again, like I said, with friends, family, clients... this "theme", if you will, that we are all going through some shit, whatever our personal shit may be... and we're totally unaware of what others around us are going through and so we feel like we're the only ones struggling. Or maybe we have no patience for the other guy, because how-dare-they do whatever they did and affect us in whatever way they did...

So then because we think everyone else has it all together, everything feels so much more personal.

Sometimes things feel more lonely, more isolating, like we're the only ones experiencing this pain or grief.

Sometimes things feel more intense because we feel like no one is taking our feelings into consideration as they make decisions that might affect us.

Sometimes things feel more personal, because it's like we feel like they should know how their actions affect us, and they don't.

The list goes on and on and on.

But at the end of the day, we're all just goin through our own personal shit-storm. 🌩ī¸đŸŒŠī¸đŸŒŠī¸

Our own personal fight club.

It's just none of us realize what the other is going through because of that damn fight club rule.

So maybe today you could try approaching things with that in mind.

When the guy cuts you off in traffic, just let him buzz off in front of you. Maybe something horrible has just happened in his life, who knows...

Or maybe when you're feeling all alone and upset and like the world has turned against you... try phoning a friend and telling them. Talking about it and allowing yourself to receive a little support.

And, of course, if you feel yourself overwhelmed by stress or fear or anxiety, or you find yourself with some sort of negative "automatic response" - be that anger or frustration, etc. and want to change - let's work together! Integrative Change Work (aka changing those habituated responses in your brain) and Hypnosis just happen to be my specialty. 😉

Rooting for you always!

Ashley
